Once you have selected Ashby Signature Homes as your preferred custom home construction company, the process of your home’s construction begins. Let’s take an overview of how the custom home building process works.
Step 1 – Initial Meeting Phase
First, it is necessary to meet with us to discuss your needs and expectations for your next home. During this meeting, we will be talking about your budget, your priorities, and what it is that you are seeking in a new home. Please bring any materials with you that you feel may contribute to the process of conveying these needs.
Step 2 – Design Phase
During the custom home building design phase, the final details of your home are ironed out and all of your custom selections are made. This includes, but is not limited to, selecting cabinetry, flooring, paint colors, elevation (exterior design), and appliances.
Step 3 – Custom Home Construction Phase
The custom home building phase is where all of the excitement happens! Here you can see the actual form of your custom home take shape. This takes place in 5 major steps.
1. Foundation
This includes the excavation and grading of the site, the laying of your home’s foundation, and the laying out of the rough plumbing for the house.
2. Framing
Framing entails putting up the interior and exterior walls of the home, as well as the framing of any stairs. The roof, shingles, doors and windows are also installed at this time.
3. Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical
This is the phase where the heart of your home is installed. The heating and air conditioning systems are put into place. All of the electrical wiring is installed. Finally, the plumbing and waste systems are set into the home. These systems must be inspected and approved before the construction process can proceed.
4. Drywall and Insulation
This step includes filling the walls with insulation and covering them with drywall. It also entails finishing off the walls with the custom selected texture or paint.
5. Exterior and Interior Finishes
In the final step of the custom home construction phase, all of the last minute details are handled. Ceilings, doors, window sills, cabinets, counter tops, appliances, and mirrors are all installed. Tile, hardwood and carpet flooring is put into place. Shower heads and faucets are installed. The interior and exterior walls are painted with the chosen colors. Sidewalks and driveways are poured. Finally the exterior landscaping is done.
Step 4 – Closing / Move-in
Once the home has passed inspection, you can sign the papers and close on your new house. Now it’s time to move in and take full advantage of your dream home!
